Painting is a part of me.
I can’t remember a time when I didn’t paint. Born in south Texas I began painting at an early age. To me, art is a necessary part of our everyday experience.
As I follow my personal and spiritual journey my work changes and grows with me. My art tells this story - it is a reflection of my heart and soul.
My main art education has been my fortunate opportunity to work with and learn from the artists I’ve met along various intervals of my journey.
I was influenced by Charles Schorre and Buck Schiwetz when I was offered a workshop at the Ingram Art Institute and because of them my direction was set.
I’ve spent a large part of my career with southwest artists printmaking in Austin, Santa Fe, and Scottsdale. While I always enjoy this form of art I keep returning to painting.
My paintings range from contemporary landscapes to a reflection of many different images. I never want to paint just one thing — always contemporary but with a reflection of reality. Some range from muted tones while others reflect a brighter palate.
I want the viewer to feel a range of emotions but mostly to feel a sense of peace and contemplation.
My hope is to inspire the viewer. I want them to feel engaged and uplifted.
